The Anti-Gun Playbook (San Bernardino shootings)

Syed Rizwan FarookThere was another horrific situation yesterday in which two disturbed individuals (Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik, husband and wife) killed fourteen people and injured seventeen others. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of this heinous crime and their families.

Unfortunately, the reactions of President Obama, most Democrats and the media were predictable, as always. It’s like they have a playbook or script telling them how to react every time one of these tragedies occurs.

President Obama:

  • Minutes after the news reports surface, and long before any facts are in, give a speech saying we need to do something about gun control.
  • A few hours later, give a similar speech.
  • A few days later, give another similar speech and blame Republicans and the NRA, never the person who actually pulls the trigger.
  • Days and weeks that follow, attend lots of fundraisers and keep blaming Republicans and the NRA.

Most Democrats:
Follow the above steps from President’s Obama’s playbook, with the following additional steps:

  • Refer to the weapons repeatedly as “automatic weapons,” “machine guns,” or “deadly assault weapons” and never take the time to learn the difference between automatic and semi-automatic weapons.
  • Hope that the shooter is a white male. If so, label the situation as “domestic terrorism” and imply that all gun owners are potential nutcases waiting to go on a shooting spree.
  • If the shooter was of middle-eastern heritage or a Muslim, re-label the tragedy as “workplace violence” and immediately stop mentioning “terrorism” even if the killers have ties to known terrorists.
  • NEVER mention the religion of the killer unless, of course, it’s Christian.
  • Have a few spokesmen float the idea of changing the law to require law-abiding gun owners “turn in” their weapons. Do NOT mention the Second Amendment or that pesky “takings clause” of the Fifth Amendment.
  • When lawful gun owners point out that the Democrats’ real goal is “gun confiscation” not “gun control,” pretend like you don’t know anything about the preceding step.
  • Keep saying you’re only in favor of “reasonable” gun control and ignore the fact the jurisdiction where the shooting just occurred already has numerous gun control laws in place which failed to stop an individual determined to commit a criminal act.

Media Outlets:

  • Jump over each other trying to be the first to report the story.
  • Report all unsourced gossip and get most of the facts wrong for the first 3-4 hours while reporting on the “fluid situation” and then never acknowledge or retract everything that was reported incorrectly.
  • Refer to the weapons repeatedly as “automatic weapons,” “machine guns,” or “deadly assault weapons” and never take the time to learn the difference between automatic and semi-automatic weapons.
  • Start dropping hints that the shooter is an angry white Christian male.
  • While hoping that the shooter is a white male, label the situation as “domestic terrorism” and imply that all gun owners are potential nutcases waiting to go on a deadly shooting spree.
  • Echo calls for “reasonable gun control” and disparage the NRA.
  • If the facts show the shooter was mentally disturbed, ignore that and keep blaming the “deadly” guns.
  • If the shooter was of middle-eastern heritage or a Muslim, re-label the tragedy as “workplace violence” and remove all mentions of “terrorism” or immediately cease coverage of the situation.
  • Have plenty of “experts” in studio to support calls for more gun control. [Under no circumstances shall any commentators be from the NRA or GOA. If presenting the gun owners’ position, the spokesman must be a self-identified “milita” member with no college or post-graduate education, preferably from Alabama or Mississippi.]

Repeat each time there is a shooting.

About Bud

Yeehaw and Git-R-Done!! I'm just a simple good ole boy who "clings to his God and his guns." In other words, another dumb redneck gun owner you should ignore. That's what the gun confiscation crowd wants you to think, and it's how they falsely portray the majority of gun owners. Read some of the posts on this blog and draw your own conclusions. Then you might want to start questioning everything the government and media tell you about gun issues . . .
